South Africa

This trip was marking. When you are marked by an experience, something in your life changes or something deep within you shifts. My heart has shifted to an understanding that the Holy Spirit I thought I knew before this trip, is not the Holy Spirit I now know to be.

We left for South Africa bright and early January 23rd, 2025. Our original flight got cancelled so we ended up with a 22 hour layover in New York. This layover was a divine set-up since we were able to pray for a teammate’s friend diagnosed with cancer and see God bring peace and touch our own hearts with faithfulness.

We arrived in South Africa January 25th in the evening. Our first ministry opportunities were the churches we would be serving that Sunday, January 26th.

I was on the team that went to Signal Church. Terran Williams was preaching this Sunday on his series “Let Us” and the topic focused on was community. The 8 key points were:

Let us love one another as siblings.

Let us get to know each other.

Let us encourage each other.

Let us prioritize gathering together.

Let us do life together.

Let us lead with relational health.

Let us deal with differing viewpoints and conflicts well.

Let us welcome new people into the family.

At the end of the service, we ministered on the prayer team. The first woman to receive prayer was struggling with suicidal thoughts and plagued and tormented for a long time. After praying, she left with total peace and a changed countenance. Several people asked for prophetic words and however the Lord led me to pray for them. At the end of prayer time, I was asked to pray for a mother and father who were carrying an 11-week old in the womb declared without a heartbeat. I have not felt such faith in prayer that this baby would live and not die. We are still awaiting the final report.

Sunday concluded with some well loved beach time and a good dinner.
